Dave Coulier Celebrates Cancer-Free Diagnosis and Birth of Grandson on the Same Day: “An Amazing Day”
Dave Coulier Receives Life-Changing News: Cancer-Free and a New Grandfather
March 26, 2025, will forever be etched in the heart of actor and comedian Dave Coulier. On that single day, the Full House alum received news that he was officially cancer-free—just moments before finding out he had become a grandfather for the first time.
“It was really an amazing day,” Coulier said during a heartfelt appearance on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast with co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber.
Coulier’s Battle with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
The beloved actor, known best for his role as “Uncle Joey,” had quietly been battling stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma since October 2024. He made the diagnosis public in November, sharing his fight with fans and emphasizing the importance of early detection and hope.
“I was a mess,” Coulier recalled. “I got so sick from chemo. My immune system was shot. I was just trying to survive every day.”
Double Joy: Welcome, Baby Chance Lee
That same day, Coulier’s son Luc and daughter-in-law Alex welcomed their first child—a baby boy named Chance Lee, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
“My son Luc texted, ‘Dad, he’s here!’ and I just sat there in disbelief,” Coulier shared. “To find out I was cancer-free and then learn my grandson was born—it was unbelievable.”
Family Support and Humor Through the Storm
Despite the seriousness of his condition, Coulier never lost his sense of humor—a trait he says helped him and his family get through the darkest moments. He joked about nearly “killing the moment” in the family group chat after sharing the dual news.
“Of course I made a joke—because that’s who I am. But I also knew this moment was bigger than anything I’ve ever experienced.”
He gave special thanks to his wife Melissa and son Luc for their constant love and support throughout the journey.
“I leaned on them more than they’ll ever know,” he said. “They were my rock.”
Looking Ahead: A New Chapter
Now healthy and filled with gratitude, Coulier is looking forward to visiting his grandson in Sacramento and beginning a new chapter focused on family, healing, and gratitude.
“Chance has already brought light into our lives,” Coulier said. “And to be around for this next chapter—it’s the best gift I could’ve asked for.”
Dave Coulier’s story is a powerful reminder of resilience, love, and the beauty of life’s unexpected moments. His double blessing—beating cancer and becoming a grandfather—will surely inspire fans across generations.
